About Bumpass Volunteer
Fire Department
A proud tradition of service to northeastern Louisa County, Lake Anna, and surrounding communities — 100% volunteer since 1961.
Our History
Bumpass Volunteer Fire Department — Station 1 — has served the northeastern Louisa County community since 1961. Founded on a tradition of neighbor helping neighbor, BVFD has grown from a small community organization into a capable, modern fire and EMS first-responder department.
Our station at 96 Fredericks Hall Road is the hub of emergency response for a coverage area that spans rural farmland, wooded communities, and the private side of Lake Anna — one of the largest lakes in Virginia and a rapidly growing destination for both year-round and seasonal residents.
As Lake Anna has grown and call volume has increased over the past five years, BVFD has continued to adapt — upgrading equipment, training volunteers, and serving the community with the same dedication that has defined the department for over six decades.
