Home Fire Safety: Test Your Smoke Alarms Today

Working smoke alarms save lives. The Bumpass Volunteer Fire Department encourages every household to take a few minutes to protect your family: • Test every smoke alarm monthly by pressing the test button. • Replace batteries at least once a year — an easy reminder is to change them when the clocks change. • Replace smoke alarms every 10 years. • Make sure alarms are installed on every level of your home and inside each bedroom. • Create and practice a home escape plan so everyone knows two ways out and where to meet outside. A little preparation makes a big difference. Stay safe, Bumpass.

No prior experience is required — we provide the training, gear, and support you need to serve. Whether you're interested in firefighting, emergency response, or supporting the department behind the scenes, there's a role for you. BVFD Welcomes Newly Elected Officers — July 2026

Bumpass Volunteer Fire Department is pleased to announce the officers who took office this month following the department's election. These dedicated volunteers will lead BVFD's operations, administration, and training programs as we continue serving northeastern Louisa County and the Lake Anna community. The department remains committed to its mission of protecting life and property across our community. BVFD is a 100% volunteer organization serving the Lake Anna area since 1961.
